For the past few issues of Our Life and Times, the newsletter of 1199SEIU, which we redesigned in 2005 and have been art directing since, we have had the distinct pleasure of collaborating with some wonderful artists. For the January/February Issue, we commissioned the New York based illustrator, Luba Lukova, to create the cover. Luba's distinctive use of line and color captures essential themes of the human condition. Her work is undeniably powerful and thought provoking.

In March we had the opportunity to collaborate with the legendary artist and designer, Milton Glazer. This was an especially poignant collaboration for Giona, who began his New York career in Milton's studio. The assignment was to create a poster inspired by the ideals of the “Occupy Wall Street” movement. Highlighting the unity of the health care workers organization as part of the 99%. We feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to collaborate with these inspiring and immensely talented people and look forward to more collaborations in the future.

Highlighting the new mesh colors of the Sava Chair, this poster was created in conjunction with our redesign of the New York Showroom and Stylex booth at NeoCon East in Baltimore.

For his guest lecture at the University of Bologna, Giona was assigned one theme: Simplicity.
